      Office files from the administration of Eric Clark (1996-2008), with a few files dating back to the administration of the previous Secretary of State, Dick Molpus. Most of the files in this series belonged to Chuck Bearman, Secretary Clark’s Chief of Staff, though a small amount of Clark’s personal correspondence is included with this collection.

      The files are arranged into several different groups, just at they originally were kept at the Secretary of State’s offices. Some of these groups correspond to the various divisions of the agency: Business Services, Education and Publication, Elections, and Public Lands. Other file groups are simply topical in nature: publicity files (mostly news clippings and speeches), legislation, Eric Clark’s personal correspondence, and general office files.

      All files are arranged alphabetically within a particular group, with the exception of the Elections Division files, which are arranged chronologically by year. There is some crossover between dates in the Elections Division material, so researchers should be thorough when checking these particular files.
