Unpublished archaeological survey and excavation reports of sites in Mississippi and related photographs and illustrations. The reports are either produced by or in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) or were sent to the State Historic Preservation Office at MDAH. In addition to the finished reports, the series includes excavation records such as: site survey forms, excavation data analysis worksheets, field photograph records, artifact analysis worksheets, artifacts inventories/catalogs, site photographs, and field crew information. In accordance with the provisions of the Antiquities Law of Mississippi, certain archaeological reports may be restricted by MDAH (Miss. Code (1972 annotated), Title 39, Chapter 7, Section 41). Records are arranged within each box by site or project name.
RESTRICTED Access to this series is restricted under authority of the Antiquities Law of Mississippi (Section 39-7-41, MCA 1972). Researchers wishing to view these records must submit a written request to the department director. The request must clearly state the reason why access is sought and the use to which data obtained from the series will made. |
