      Contact sheets, prints, slides, and negatives of pictures taken by the Public Information Section and the Information and Education Division of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Thousands of images document department staff, special events, exhibits, conferences and symposia, historic buildings, and prominent state and national figures.

      In addition to the photographs and slides, there is a handwritten log book which corresponds to many of the slides of the Governor's Mansion. This log book consists of two sections. The first section corresponds to twenty (20) slides of photos taken in January and February of 1972, which document furnishings of the mansion, as well as damage to the building. There were originally many more slides, but these twenty are the only ones contained in this collection. The slides are numbered, and may be matched with their corresponding numbered descriptions in the log book. The second section of the log book consists of descriptions of slides made between 1972 and 1975, which document restoration work on the mansion undertaken at that time. Numbers on the slides refer to numbered descriptions in the log book. However, many of the slides are unnumbered or, if numbered, do not correspond to the log book.

      Photographs and slides are grouped together by subject, but otherwise are arranged randomly. This is an ongoing series.
