Eleemosynary Institutions (RG 102). Kuhn Memorial State Hospital.

Architectural plans for building renovation projects at Kuhn Memorial State Hospital in 1957 and 1960. The series consists of general and structural plans for the 1957-1958 Kuhn Memorial Hospital addition. These plans also include details, a parking plan for the addition, and a monthly construction schedule. The plans were produced by project architect Raymond Birchett of Jackson, Mississippi. In addition, the series also includes a 1960 plan for a kitchen area in the hospital produced by Birchett.

Historical Note

In 1957, following a sizable bequest from Lee Kuhn, a four-story addition was added to the rear of the Mississippi State Charity Hospital in Vicksburg. The new building was completed in November 1958. In March 1956, an Act of the Mississippi Legislature renamed the hospital in recognition of its benefactor [General Laws of the State of Mississippi, 1956, Chapter 301, 359-398].
