Series 1778: Correspondence - General. 1851-1983.
Attorney General (RG 48)

Incoming and outgoing correspondence of the Attorney General.s office. This series includes replies from the Attorney General himself as well as letters written by assistant attorneys general under the Attorney General.s signature. The wide variety of material includes legal advice and counsel (with occasional opinions), staff appointments, personal notes, and informational items such as brochures, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings.

There is a great deal of overlap both with the subject correspondence (Series 364) and the subject files (Series 1779), apparently due to different methods of filing over many years and different administrations.
