Dept. of Archives and History. Historic Properties (RG 31/SG 5)
Audio cassette recordings either made at, or pertaining to, the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians historical site. There are twenty-six cassettes (including some duplicates), and these fall under four main categories: Interviews, Creek Long Cry/Cry to the Sun recordings, miscellaneous recordings, and audio accompaniment for a Grand Village slide show (the slides for which are currently missing). The culture of Southeastern Indian tribes, particularly the Creeks, Choctaws and Natchez, is a major topic. Other topics include the French colonial presence in the Natchez region and archaeology.
LIMITED ACCESS NOTE For use and/or duplication of the audio cassettes in this series, an appointment with an Image and Sound Archivist may be necessary to determine availability of equipment. |
