Regulations, reports, letters, circulars, memoranda, bulletins, and correspondence relating to the organization and operation of the Selective Service System in Mississippi before, during, and immediately after America’s involvement in World War II. There are organization charts that list the paid employees and unpaid volunteers who staffed the state office in Jackson and the local boards in the counties. The letters, circulars, memoranda, and bulletins promulgate national and local policies and procedures concerning the registration, classification, and selection of men for service in the U. S. military during World War II. The reports summarize the accomplishments of the various divisions of the state office and were the basis for the state reports to the National Selective Service System office in Washington, DC. Arrangement is alphabetical by folder title and then chronological within each folder.
