      World War II statement of service cards for Adams and Alcorn Counties (only) provided by the Mississippi Office of Selective Service Records for Mississippians in the various Armed Forces during WW II. Arrangement of cards is by county, then by discharge order number within each service. There is no index available.

Access NoteAccess to this series is limited due to the inclusion of privacy-sensitive material. To gain access to these records, an Access Request Form must be completed by the researcher. The Privacy Officer will handle the access request and provide an estimated completion date. The researcher will be informed once the privacy review is complete and the records are available for actual use.

While every effort is made to expedite the process, the researcher should expect that the access request might take a considerable amount of time to complete.

HISTORICAL NOTE

The Mississippi Selective Service Office was only able to complete the statement of service cards for these two counties’ before they were reassigned to their primary task of procuring manpower for the Armed Services by the National Defense Act of 1948. They were never able to get back to this task.
