Series 2206: Environmental Protection Council Files. 1984-2000.
Legislature (RG 47).
This series consists of the files of the Environmental Protection Council (EPC), which was responsible for considering hazardous waste, solid waste, and hazardous material transportation issues. Included are reports and recommendations to the legislature and governor as a result of both surveys and plans included in the contractor files and actual projects included in the project files. Subcommittee meeting files report meetings of the Senate Environmental Protection Committee’s Conservation and Water Resources Subcommittee, while Council meeting files report EPC meetings.
Capacity Assurance Plan (CAP) files reflect an emphasis on developing recommendations for the governor in creating and implementing a plan to meet the State Hazardous Waste Capacity Certification requirements of Section 104k of the Federal Superfund Amendments and Reauthori- zation Act of 1986 (SARA). These requirements directed each state, as a condition of receiving superfund remedial action funds, to assure the availability of hazardous waste treatment and disposal facilities for all hazardous waste expected to be generated within its borders for the next twenty years.
