Death registers of Matty Hersee Hospital containing the name of the deceased patient, address, age, marital status, race, father’s name, and mother’s maiden name. Also included are date of entry, date and time of death, cause of death, contributory causes, surgery performed, name of attending physician, and name of undertaker. Arrangement is chronological.
ACCESS NOTE Although patient records are exempt from the provisions of the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983, and are restricted from public access [Mississippi Code Annotated (1972), § 41-9-67 & 68], a new federal ruling, 45 CFR 160.103, only exempts deceased patients’ records for 50 years after death. Thus these records should have been opened in January 2012. They were opened on the above date. |
