Series 2327:  Capitol Repairs and Expenses.  1831-1895.

      These materials document costs associated with the construction, repair, and upkeep of public buildings in Jackson during the 19th Century. Most of the receipts are for the Old Capitol building and document its erection from 1836 to 1840, as well as expenses for repairs and maintenance. Also included are salary expenses for the State Architect and for construction workers (both temporary and those under contract). Other buildings such as the Governor’s Mansion and offices for the Secretary of State, Auditor, and Treasurer are also documented. The materials are arranged chronologically by year.
