Series 2331: Governor's Mansion Docent Material. 1941-2019; Not Dated.

      This series consists of docent material compiled from the Governor’s Mansion. It contains a variety of material, all of which is organized chronologically.

  1. Photographs and Slides: This series includes photographs, negatives, and slides of docent activities like luncheons and training. The majority of these photos appear to be from an annual Docent Luncheon thrown in honor of the docents working at the Governor’s Mansion. Arrangement is by type of media and thereunder roughly chronological.
  2. Manuals: The manuals consist of a brief history of the Mansion and the various restorations undertaken at the house, room-by-room descriptions of furnishings, and other information about the Mansion and its grounds. Most of the information is of a historical or architectural nature, though guidelines on how docents should perform their duties are also included. A tourist brochure about the Governor’s Mansion may be found with the earliest manual. Arrangement is chronological by year.
  3. Newsletters: These newsletters were published and released by both employees and Docents within the Governor’s Mansion roughly every month beginning in June of 1980 to update readers on events, activities, visitor numbers, and VIP appearances at the Mansion. Arrangement is chronological by year.
  4. Trips: This information is made up of maps, guides, correspondence detailing the docent trips, and itineraries. Arrangement is chronological by year.
  5. Publicity Files: Some of these publicity files go hand in hand with the photographs. They consist of news article copies of events, lists of names of the individuals photographed, purchase orders for the photos and photographers, and event descriptions. Arrangement is chronological by year.
  6. Training Files: This consists of Training course itineraries, course schedules, attendance listings, guidelines, study materials, calendars, outlines, course descriptions, notes, question and answer reviews, questionnaires, study materials, exams, and course-related correspondence. Arrangement is chronological by year.
  7. Docent Surveys: Surveys conducted by the Governor’s Mansion staff to determine the knowledge and aptitude of potential docents on to the property. Arrangement is chronological by year. Also included are blank forms of the Docent Surveys for posterity. At this time, there are only Docent Surveys for 2016.
  8. Certificates and Awards: This section consists of certificate and award designs and presentations performed by the members of the Governor Mansion’s Docent Program. There is also correspondence dictating these dedications. Arrangement on the finding aid is chronological.
