      Files of Janet Leach, Golf Marketing Manager for the Mississippi Development Authority's Division of Tourism. These files document efforts to promote Mississippi as a golfing destination for tourists, and contain materials such as brochures, golf guides, press releases, advertisements, magazine and newspaper articles, travel itineraries, meeting agendas, correspondence, financial information and statistics.

      The Mississippi Development Authority markets golf in a number of different ways: through press releases, an advertising campaign, international marketing, marketing development and training seminars, and a website devoted to golfing in Mississippi. The Tourism Division also hosts "fam" (familiarization) tours for media representatives and tour operators to familiarize them with golf courses and hotels in Mississippi. Such tours generate extensive media coverage. The Tourism Division also coordinates closely with representatives from various resorts, hotels and convention and tourist bureaus around Mississippi to represent the state at various golf trade shows in the United States and Canada, and also promotes and publicizes golf tournaments held in Mississippi, such as the Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic, the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, and the U.S. Women's Open.
