Series 2670: Revolutionary War Pension Warrants. 1839-1859.
Auditor (RG 29).

These materials document Revolutionary War veterans receiving a pension from the state of Mississippi during the nineteenth century. Pension warrants exist for the years 1839-1859, and soldiers could collect $100 per year after verifying with a local official (such as a justice of the peace or judge) that they served in the Revolutionary War on the side of the revolution. The warrants are arranged chronologically. Names were often misspelled (even on the same form), and different counties were sometimes given for the same individual on separate forms.
