      General files from the Department of Human Services Office of Children and Youth, which is responsible for disbursing federal grant money to contracting day care centers across the state, administering the Transitional Child Care program for parents who are no longer eligible for Aid to Families with Dependent Children but still need access to subsidized day care, and other children’s services. The files are organized in two groups, grant files and office files. Grant files are related to the disbursement of Social Services Block Grants and Child Care and Development Grants, both of which are funded by federal dollars. Office files contain general correspondence, memoranda, limited data on programs administered by the office, and planning documents for a possible day care for state employees in Jackson.
