      Subject files on a variety of topics related to Mississippi agriculture. Arts and Entertainment Hall of Fame files contain information related to the site selection process for the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center. Catfish files describe the department’s lobbying efforts to require labels on commercially available catfish designating its national origins following the growth in sales of Vietnamese catfish, as well as a 1997 scare concerning dioxin in catfish feed. Composting files document the exploration of composting at the Mississippi Fairgrounds. Department of Environmental Quality files document the department’s contributions to setting total maximum daily loads for water quality. Poultry files describe efforts to pass a Poultry Fair Practices Act in the year 2000 that would provide government-backed arbitration between poultry growers and processors. Southern States Meat Goat Cooperative files describe the co-operative’s start-up process and money problems (the cooperative has since gone out of business). Timber theft files document efforts to pass more stringent timber theft laws.
