      This series consists of forms submitted to the Auditor’s office from different counties for remittances received during the process of redeeming taxes on lands forfeited to the state for failure to pay taxes. There are two different methods documented that record these transactions.

1869-1878:
The documents for this date range are “Receipt Warrants” and the sales of the tax lands went to Common School Funds. The clerks of the counties would submit lists of transactions for fiscal years end or from month to month. The information listed on these forms include individuals’ names, township & ranges of the lands, dates, and the amounts given in remittance and the total remittance for the county during the recorded period. Not all counties are available for all years within these date ranges.

1880-1897:
The forms in the series for this date range were submitted for each individual or individuals that transacted to redeem lands. The information on these forms include information such as individuals’ names, township & ranges of the lands, dates, and the amounts given in remittance. Not all counties are available for all years within these date ranges.

Note to Reference Staff: There is an Excel spreadsheet created in conjunction with this finding aid that has lists of names, dates, and counties for the 1880’s.
