Series 351: Orders of Boards of Police/Boards of Supervisors: 1819-1881.
Auditor (RG 29).

Copies of orders of various county boards of police or boards of supervisors which were sent to the State Auditor. A few orders of county probate courts are included as well. Note that prior to the Constitution of 1832, counties in Mississippi were governed by their respective county courts. The creation of a board of police for each county was provided for in the Constitution of 1832. The Constitution of 1869 renamed the “board of police” the “board of supervisors,” although the functions were essentially the same.
