A variety of monthly reports generated by the National Youth Administration (NYA) in Mississippi, with related correspondence. The following types of reports are found in this series:
- Monthly narrative reports. The bulk of the series consists of these reports, which were sent in to the NYA State Administrator by the various District Supervisors around the state. They typically cover topics such as administrative problems, local advisory committees, work/training activities, local publicity, ongoing projects, and cost of projects. Reports run from March 1937 to June 1938, though there are several gaps. Arranged chronologically.
- Monthly reports of youth employed on projects. These reports are statistical breakdowns showing the number of youths working on particular projects, by sex and/or race. Descriptions of projects and project numbers are also given. A couple of related reports show the number of youths employed by types of projects. Reports date from 1935 to 1937. Arranged chronologically.
- Monthly reports on student aid employment and earnings. Accompanied by relevant correspondence, these reports cover student aid, schools receiving federal aid, and similar topics. The report figures are broken down by number of schools, type of student aid, number of students, and earnings. Arranged chronologically, these items date from 1936.
- Monthly and bi-monthly reports on advisory committee activities. These reports of the activities of local and state advisory committees were sent to the Director of the NYA’s National Advisory Committee by the NYA State Director for Mississippi. Accompanied by relevant correspondence, these items date from 1941 to 1942. Arranged chronologically.
- Correspondence concerning monthly reports, and monthly report outline. General correspondence about monthly reports between the State Director and the Deputy Executive Director in Washington, D. C. Included with the correspondence are blank monthly report forms, used as outlines for NYA Directors to pattern their monthly reports after. Arranged chronologically.
