Incoming correspondence of various Mississippi adjutants general, 1861-1864, along with a letterbook containing copies of outgoing corresponcence of Adjutant-General Jones A. Hamilton, June 25, 1862, to September 2, 1863. The incoming correspondence concerns a variety of topics including supplies furnished by the state, the enlistment of troops, officers’ commissions, questions of military etiquette and law, and the possibility of trading with Union forces for civilian necessities. The outgoing correspondence primarily concerns Mississippi state troops and is administrative in nature.
