Correspondence, mostly incoming, of John L. Power, Superintendent of Army Records for the state of Mississippi, dating November 1864 to September 1866. One of the major duties of the superintendent was to perfect the records of Mississippi’s Confederate troops and obtain final settlements of deceased soldiers to be filed in the Second Auditor’s Office of the Confederate States. This correspondence pertains primarily to claims for back pay due and property of deceased soldiers.
