Series 174: Historic Properties Bond Bill Grant Files. 1995-2000.Dept. of Archives and History (RG 31). Historic Preservation (SG 4).
Files maintained by the coordinator of the Statewide Historic and Cultural Properties Development Grant Program, which was administered by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History as provided in House Bill No. 1502 (Chapter 564, Laws of Mississippi 1993), popularly known as the Historic Properties Bond Bill. The grants were issued to nonprofit groups or governmental bodies for purposes of historical or archaeological investigation, restoration, and interpretation.
These records are divided into three broad groups: general grant files, awarded grants, and rejected grants. The general grant files contain information about the development of the grant program, from the legislation which created it to the development of criteria for awarding the grants to the final scoring of grant applications. The “awarded” and “rejected” grant files are usually arranged alphabetically by specific project, though some are arranged by name of town since they pertain to a number of projects within that community. The files typically contain applications, correspondence, proposals, cost breakdowns, and other materials.
