Lists of men, both black and white (as indicated), eligible for service in the state militia. Lists include names, residence location, age, and, in a few cases, comments. For the most part the names are arranged alphabetically by location. Not all beats in a named county are included. Dates are not evident on some rolls. Those dates were estimated based on the type of form and the manner of printing. The Yalobusha County list is only men subject or not subject to militia service per a law passed Dec. 6, 1865, "An Act to Reorganize the Militia of the State," an extract of which is in the folder.
