Two comb-bound documents, one a summary and the other a full report, of the state of education in Mississippi and recommendations for its improvement.  The report was prepared by Booz-Allen & Hamilton Inc., Management Consultants. The full report contains a wealth of statistical data about economics and education in the state and is illustrated with many charts and other graphics. Elementary school through university-level education is covered. In 1966 the legislature directed the Mississippi Research and Development Council, of which Governor Paul B. Johnson, Jr. was chairman, to hire “an out-of-state management consulting firm for an analysis of the organization and management of the state’s educational system” [from Governor Johnson’s introduction to the study, March 10, 1967]. The report was generated over a five-month period, from August to December of 1966, with the Research and Development Council monitoring the work as it progressed. In addition to the two report documents, a copy of the minutes of an October 31, 1967 meeting of the Delta Council Educational Policy Committee is included. The Booz-Allen Hamilton study was discussed at this meeting.
