Series 252: Hospital Commission Scrapbook. 1951. Commission on Hospital Care (RG 38).

Scrapbook concerning hospitals and clinics built in Mississippi between 1949 and 1951, with brief information about each and artists’ renderings of many of them. There is one typed sheet of information for each hospital or clinic, with typically the following information: county population figures for 1950; location; date of opening; cost; number of facilities and type (such as laboratories, x-rays, nurseries, etc.); resident births, midwife deliveries, number of beds and bassinettes, name of superintendent; type of owner (city or county); and special facilities, if any (such as a blood bank or a morgue). The prints are made from what appear to be architects’ conceptual renderings; no floor plans or photographs are included. The original scrapbook, which was dated May 1, 1951, was disassembled for preservation purposes.
