A small, artificial collection of military documents related to U. S. military activities in Mississippi. The first document is an inspection report from Colonel John E. Wool, an Inspector General Officer, writing to Colonel R. Jones, Adjutant General, Washington D.C., on April 12, 1826 from near Natchez. The report is about Wool's tour of inspection of Army outposts along the Mississippi River from the Arkansas Post to Fort St. Phillips (below New Orleans). In the report he describes the severe high water all along his route. The second document is a letter to Lieutenant George H. Crossman, Assistant Quartermaster, Camp Black Creek near the Choctaw Agency, from the Quartermaster General in Washington D.C. dated October 10, 1831, concerning a remittance of $1,000.00.
