Collection Summary: This series consists of files on matching grants awarded by the Tourism Development division of the Department of Economic and Community Development (Mississippi Development Authority) to various cities, counties, and organizations in Mississippi to bolster state tourism; Files on grant awards canceled by the awardee and rejected by the agency are also present; and applications for grant funding by art, music, theater groups and individuals as well as municipal organizations as part of a statewide tourism initiative. Records consist of correspondence, memoranda, budget information, grant applications, draft and published promotional material, invoices, purchase orders, final reports from grant awardees, news clippings, scattered maps, published tourist guides, and other ephemera. Two promotional VHS tapes and one cassette tape are also present. Also included are cancelled or withdrawn applications. Box 30320 contains an index to the range of files from FY 1994 to FY 1998. Arrangement is chronological by fiscal year. Thereunder organization of some grants are alphabetically by name; others by grant number.

Access Restrictions: Arrangements must be made with an Image and Sound archivist to determine availability of equipment for viewing/listening and/or duplication of audiovisual material.
