Series 269: Negro Scholarship Fund Requisitions. 1956-1958. Institutions of Higher Learning. Board of Trustees (RG 39).

Based on House Bill 459 signed into law by Governor Wright in 1948, the Negro Scholarship Fund appropriated money for qualified black students who were residents of Mississippi so that they could attend graduate and professional schools outside of the state when Mississippi institutions were not available to them due to segregation. The collection contains lists of fund recipients, the amount they received, and state auditor requisitions. The lists are organized by requisition form number.
