Files of the Communications Division Office of the Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD). The Communications Division Office handles the agency’s public relations, marketing, and advertising duties. Items found in this series include: copies of press releases and newspaper coverage of DECD announcements and events; marketing campaign materials used to attract national and international business and industry (including advertising productions such as printed brochures and literature, and audiovisual cassette tapes); reference materials such as reports and brochures on state industry and tourism; county reference files containing 1988-1989 information such as community data sheets; who’s who information sheets; lists of elected officials; demographic statistics; newspaper clippings; survey files whereby business and industry growth were tracked; program files for economic development programs funded by state and federal grants; and files for tourism campaigns and events. The files for the Jackson Mall Defense Finance & Accounting Service Center (DFAS) proposal, the State Job Training Coordinating Council (SJTCC) meetings, the 1998 Facilities Survey, and the 1992-93 Olympics training sites are especially noteworthy. Some photographs, inter-office correspondence, and staff memos are scattered throughout the series. Not every county has a reference file, and some regional or business files can be found among the county files. The series is arranged alphabetically by subject.
