Collection Summary: An assortment of financial ledgers for state taxes. Box 2848 contains an alphabetical index to tax payers for the years 1859-1860. The index lists the taxpayer name, county, and page number corresponding to an unknown ledger. Box 3594 contains three bound ledgers with state taxes collected by county tax collectors. The books are organized by county, with the name of the tax collectors listed and the amount collected by month. Box 3970 has two handwritten ledgers with monthly tax collectors’ statements detailing amounts collected by type of tax.
