Twenty seven bound ledgers documenting the expenses and revenue for various state accounts managed by the State Auditor. For the nineteenth century these accounts included: seminary lands, insolvencies, appropriations, census, commissions for assessing, hawkers and peddlers, slaves sold as merchandise, literary fund, elections, contingency fund, judiciary, legislative, executive, as well as the collection of taxes at the county level. During the twentieth century, the ledgers are organized into general fund receipts (various taxes collected); warrants for various departments such as legislative, judiciary, executive, highway, and education; tax assessor and state official salaries (with their names and salaries listed); and disbursements of the common school fund. The ledgers are organized chronologically.
