The public hearings took place in Hattiesburg, Oxford, Biloxi, and Jackson, and the supporting documents contain letters, memos, and resolutions in support of and opposition against the proposed rules.

Record Group History: According to Article V of the Constitution of 1817, the judicial power of the state was vested in one supreme court and such superior and inferior courts of law and equity as the legislature may from time to time direct. The Constitution of 1832 changed the supreme court to the High Court of Errors and Appeals which consisted of three judges. Article V of the Constitution of 1868 changed the name of the state's highest court back to Supreme Court. The Constitution of 1890 maintained a supreme court of three judges but made the office elective.
