Collection Summary: Standardized printed forms bearing the heading “Certificate of Resigned, Removed, or Transferred Officers” wherein an officer attests to his transfer from state service to Confederate service or the expiration of his term of service, sworn to and subscribed before a justice of the peace.  Each certificate is accompanied by an officer’s pay account statement.  Signers include officers of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Regiments, Army of Mississippi (1861), which eventually became, respectively, the 1st, 23rd and 3rd Mississippi Infantry Regiments, along with officers of various infantry and cavalry units of Mississippi State Troops, including several paroled at Vicksburg in 1863.
