Creator: Territorial Auditor (RG 3).

Collection Summary: Ledger book listing a chronological account of warrants to be drawn on the territorial treasury, and amounts paid into the treasury per receipt warrants. The listing for warrants shows the date each warrant was written, warrant number and amount, to whom payable, services rendered, and how charged (against which department of the government). The receipt warrant listing shows the amount received (and deposited into the treasury) through taxes, fines and forfeitures, collection official, and date money was received. The warrant numbering begins over with each new accounting period (generally Oct./Nov. - Nov./Dec.), and taxes were paid into the treasury usually towards the end of the calendar year. Most of the columns in this ledger can be identified although the column headings are generally not named. No balances are maintained; however, accounts are carried over from one year to the next. This ledger was rebound by this Department in the early 1900s and now bears the title “Auditor Pay Warrants, Vol. C, 1805-1817” (a reference to Volume C/Series B of the original record groups listed by Archives Director Dunbar Rowland in his fifth annual report for 1906).
