JEFFERSON DAVIS HIGHWAY ASSOCIATION PAPERS


Papers, including credentials of delegates and proceedings of the Grenada Convention of the Jefferson Davis Highway Association, covering the period 1916–1919, during which the proposed route of the Jefferson Davis Highway was contested.

The collection includes newspaper clippings with supplementary information on the route. The Grenada meeting was to determine route, and passed a resolution to establish the highway from the Tennessee line to Holly Springs, Oxford, Grenada, Winona, Durant, Canton and Jackson. J. T. Thomas, Grenada, was president of the convention, and Walker Wood, Winona, was secretary.
