EUSTIS (HORATIO) LETTERS
Two letters from Horatio Eustis of Natchez to his father, General A. Eustis. Horatio Eustis, son-in-law of Major Henry Chotard, was a lawyer and owner of Somerset plantation of Natchez. The first letter describes the financial condition of the state and mentions fear of the Mississippi River's flooding. The second letter gives a vivid description of the tornado that hit Natchez May 7, 1840.
