Miscellaneous correspondence of A. J. McLaurin, including a letter from M. A. McKinnon to Mrs. McLaurin concerning McLaurin's campaign for the United States Senate; copies of some letters presented to Colonel John Hay on his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James, introducing Major J. Burke Hendry; copy of a letter transmitting a patent for lands granted to Mississippi for Industrial Institute and College for Girls.

Several items were transferred to the official records of the administration of Anselm J. McLaurin as governor, and are now in the Government Records, Series 831, Correspondence and Papers, 1895-1900. These include copies of some letters presented to Colonel John Hay on his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James, introducing Major J. Burke Hendry, and a copy of a letter transmitting a patent for lands granted to Mississippi for Industrial Institute and College for Girls. The list of transferred items follows:
