Miscellaneous correspondence of Governor John J. McRae, including secession letters of William Need, former Mississippi printer, from Arizona Territory.

One item is a letter to McRae from J. P. Carter, sergeant-major of the Twenty-Seventh Mississippi Regiment, requesting help in obtaining a commission to raise a company of Partisan Rangers from Perry, Harrison, Green and Jones counties, dated June 18, 1862, Camp Pettus, near Mobile, Alabama. A postscript has been added by McRae and sent to Major General Earl Van Dorn.
