Z 0539.000 Montgomery (W. E.) Confederate Papers

Collection of two A.L.S. and one manuscript resolution of the Mississippi State Legislature, meeting at Columbus in December, 1863, referring to the heroic exploits as cited in the resolution of Captain W. E. Montgomery's company of Rangers, who captured the crew and captain of the steamer East Port and destroyed the steamer Allen Collier. One congratulatory letter is from Charles Clark, governor of Mississippi at the time of the exploit.
