RAFTER (ALEXANDER MCKINNEY) PAPERS
Papers of Alexander McKinney Rafter, school man, poet, soldier, journalist, born Germantown, Tennessee, March 17, 1831, died Canton, May 2, 1884. He was corresponding editor of The Southern Field and Factory, published at Jackson in 1871. He invented a cotton planter and a guano distributor.
The collection includes ALS of J. L. Alcorn, Jefferson Davis, and printed lists of members of the Presbyterian churches of Water Valley and Canton.
