SNODGRASS (JOHN) AND FAMILY PAPERS


Twenty-three letters and business papers and four volumes of accounts of John Snodgrass, a planter in Claiborne County, and members of his family. The letters include one from Joseph B. Ard, Lewis, Pennsylvania, to John Snodgrass, Petit Gulf (June 18, 1833); two from John Snodgrass, Oakland College, to his wife Margaret, Versailles, Kentucky (July 24 and Aug. 8, 1844); two from Mrs. Margaret Snodgrass to her daughter, Emma Snodgrass, Rodney and Port Gibson (Oct. 2, 1858, and undated); four from E. P. Snodgrass, St. Joseph, Louisiana, to Emma Snodgrass (Sept. 3 and Nov. 28, 1872; Apr. 8 and Dec. 18, 1873); and two from T. H. Snodgrass, St. Joseph, Louisiana, to his mother, Mrs. Margaret Snodgrass (undated). The papers are distributed by date as follows: undated, 4 pieces; 1833–1839, 5 pieces; 1840–1849, 5 pieces 1850–1859, 4 pieces; and 1870–1877, 7 pieces. The four volumes are as follows:
