Microfilmed copy of the unpublished manuscript entitled "Claiborne County, Mississippi, The Promised Land", by Katy McCaleb Headley of Port Gibson, Claiborne County. The majority of the research done on this manuscript was completed while Mrs. Headley was crippled by an accident. The work covers a variety of topics such as private schools, slavery, and yellow fever which together form the history of Claiborne County. Much of the material researched was done in the county records of the courthouse in Port Gibson and the newspaper, the Port Gibson Reveille.
