Letters written to Fabian Fraser, Noxapater, Mississippi, from such prominent people as Dunbar Rowland, Director, Department of Archives and History; A. C. Hector, Superintendent, Choctaw Indian Agency; William C. Morse, Director, Mississippi Geological Survey; Moreau B. Chambers, Curator, Department of Archives and History; Theodore G. Bilbo, United States Senator, and others. The letters pertain to the effort of Fabian Fraser and other Mississippians to secure WPA approval of the Nanih Waiya project, and to keep the mound area from being destroyed. The letters reveal that overall plans were to convert the area into a park.
