Z 0849.000 Rose (Miles Standish) Papers

The collection includes "Muster and Pay-Roll" of Company K, 15th Mississippi Regiment for the period April 30, 1863–June 30, 1863. Miles Standish Rose was captain of this company. There is a photograph of J. A. Holmes, Company B, 5th Mississippi Cavalry, who was a friend and mess mate of Miller Franklin Rose, brother of Captain Miles Standish Rose. A newspaper article from The Winona Times, dated January 10 Winona Times, dated January 10, 1914, entitled "Biography of J. A. Holmes as a Confederate Soldier—Written at the Request of his Children," is part of the collection. An account of the reunion of the Rose-Parker and Harris-Williams families as published in The Webster Progress, Eupora, Mississippi, June 15, 1939, is included, and this article gives short histories of these four families. One blue cloth shoulder insignia "15th Mississippi Regiment" is part of the collection.
