Incorporated under Chapter CCXXXV, Laws of 1865, the Institution's incorporators were Robert Maxey, Robert Lowry, Joseph M. Jayne, A. G. Myers, J. S. Hobson, and W. R. Easterling. Ledger sheets show deposits and withdrawals by individuals and business firms, and the accounts of the Institution with the Louisiana Savings Bank, and the Bank of New York.
