Anselm Joseph Finch, born in Brandon on June 9, 1902, was educated at Utica Institute, Campbell College, Rust College and Northwestern University. African American leader, educator, poet, writer, speaker, long time principal of Finch High School, Centreville, and of Wilkinson County Training School, Woodville, served on state interracial committee. Letters from George Washington Carver, Mary McLeod Bethune, Bishop Theodore D. Bratton, Governors Ross Barnett and Hugh L. White of Mississippi, governors of several other states, and leading educators. Autographed copy of The Weary Blues, by Langston Hughes, is included in the collection.
