Scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and other memorabilia kept by John Wesley Barbee, Jr. (l885–l956) of DeSoto County. Senator Barbee, an attorney, served in the House of Representatives 1912–1916, in the Senate, 1916, resigning in December of that year, and again in the Senate 1924–1928. He also served as Prosecuting Attorney, Special District Attorney, and Special Circuit Judge.

The clippings reflect Senator Barbee's interest in state and national political affairs, as well as other events of general interest. The folders contain additional newspaper clippings, and correspondence.
