WINTER (WILLIAM) CAMPAIGN COLLECTION


Two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, compiled by William Winter (b. February 21, 1923), six tape recordings, and fourteen 16 mm. color films covering the 1967 gubernatorial campaign in Mississippi.

The scrapbook covers the activities of John Bell Williams and Ross R. Barnett, candidates for governor, and the tapes and films were used on radio and television by William Winter in his campaign for governor. Winter, former member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, former State Tax Collector, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Department of Archives and History, lost the election to Congressman John Bell Williams.
