HINDS COUNTY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION RECORDS

Records of the Hinds County School Improvement Association, organized in Raymond on August 29, 1911, for the purpose of increasing the interest of the patrons of Hinds County rural schools in the educational matters of their neighborhoods, and making the school a social center of the community. Prizes were offered to the rural schools in improvement competition. Miss Elise Timberlake, a graduate of Hillman College, Clinton, and an instructor at the Industrial Institute and College, Columbus, was responsible for collecting much of the information used in the school surveys.

The collection includes answers to questionnaires distributed by the Hinds County School Improvement Association, newspaper clippings, two scrapbooks of school building pictures, and miscellaneous material.
