Scope and Content

Twentieth century correspondence is present in personal letters between Helion Dickson and Lucy McWillie Dickson, his wife.

A brief series of newspaper clippings is available but contains little information.

Two volumes of William McWillie's diary/notebook from 1864 provide further information on his service during the Civil War. McWillie writes on camp life, personal matters, and military action. Fighting in the Wilderness area in Virginia receives noted coverage.

The final item in this collection is a scrapbook compiled by William McWillie for his grandson, Charles W. McWillie. Magazine items and drawings by William McWillie have been glued into a 1914 edition of Done in the Open, a compilation of prints of Frederick Remington's Western drawings and paintings. The scrapbook material is interspersed with that of the original book.
